What is Tomorrowland?

When it comes to music festivals, there are several held over the world, however, only a few are as popular and widely famed as Tomorrowland. Started over 12 years back in 2005, Tomorrowland has grown to become the ‘place to be’, especially if you are a fan of electronic music and live DJ performances. But, if you haven’t   heard of it before, then you may be wondering what is Tomorrowland?

What is Tomorrowland Festival?

Tomorrowland is the largest electronic music festival held annually in Belgium. It began as a joint venture between the original founders, the Beers brother’s along with ID&T. It has been taking place in Boom, Belgium, since 2005, and has become one of the most notable global music festivals in the last 12 years. Tomorrowland 2017, being held in the second weekend of July, promises to be even bigger on the 13 anniversary of the worldwide phenomenon.

With the likes of Avicii coming there year after year, Tomorrowland is the most anticipated event of 2017. With the 2017 edition of Tomorrowland witnessing a record attendance of 2016, Tomorrowland 2017 is obviously being considered as the biggest event of 2017, with attendance estimates being close to 360,000.

Previous year editions of Tomorrowland witnessed huge turnouts, with some of the best artists in the electronic music industry performing over there.

Tomorrowland 2016 had its tickets sold out for days before the event, with an attendance of over 180,000. It had a huge line-up of artists performing over three days. Its official anthem, “Tomorrow/Give into the Night”, had been collectively written Dada Life, Like Mike and Dimitri Vegas, which reached number 5 in the commercial charts of Belgian, and remains the biggest selling Tomorrow land anthem till date.

Tomorrowland 2014 was the first of the festivals which was held for 6 days, with the tickets for it being sold out within a few days, and the total attendance being over 360,000. It featured the likes of Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, Avicii, David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Hardwell, Martin Solveig, Steve Aoki, Tiƫsto, Skrillex and many more. The International Dance Music Awards in 2012 voted it as the best festival of its kind worldwide.

The Tomorrowland 2012 was held between July27 to July 29, at De Schorre in Boom, Belgium, and featured over 400 of the bets DJs globally, including Skrillex, Armin van Buuren, Nervo to name a few, playing on around 15 stages each day, with 185,000 people from over 75 nations of the world present there. It had its tickets sold out within a day of opening in Belgium, and within 43 minutes, the tickets for the rest of the world were sold.

In 2013, Tomorrowland held on July 26-28 had its ‘Full Madness’ passes sold out within 35 minutes, and the rest of them sold out within 1 second.

With Tomorrowland 2017 fast approaching, there is surely a lot that music fans have to be excited about. For the second time, it will be held on two weekends, from 21-23 July to 28-30 July, 2017. However, the lineup of performances for both these weekends will be the same.
